Bagan overview

Located right in the heart of Myanmar is the ancient city of Bagan, about a 30-minute flight from the capital Yangon. The city is steeped in history dating back to the mid-ninth century, and offers so much to see and do for the traveller keen on discovering the a less touristy version of Cambodia’s Angkor Wat. The town of Bagan is scattered with many temples and Pagodas, with the most famous being Ananda, the holiest pagoda in the region. Travellers to Bagan are able to enjoy a good sleep in, as many of the locals don’t rise until well after 08:00. Life is cheap in Bagan, with many hotels offering cheap rooms and food; however a credit card wouldn’t get you very far!
