Yangon overview

Known during the British colonial times as Rangoon, Yangon is the largest city in Myanmar with a population of almost six million. The city offers travellers a great opportunity to see the life of the average Burmese. Travellers to Yangon will be mesmerised with how the traditions which have lasted for centuries have withstood the test of time and how they integrate in real life. Those who are up early enough will see Burmese monks walking along the street early in the morning among office workers and sellers as cars and motorcycles zoom past. Travellers spending a few days in Yangon will not be disappointed with the vast array of tourist attractions, ranging from intricately designed temples to the hustle and bustle of a typical Burmese market. Food is plentiful here, with a large number of different options ranging from authentic street eats to five star dining.
